In the Town, there is always the option to enter a manhole leading into the sewers. Although this may be risky depending on the weather, more specifically when it is raining - there is an increased chance of encounters and getting swept downstream during rainfall.

Getting soaked or losing clothing while underground will limit the player's movement to strictly the alleyways.
