Love Interests

There are four groups that make up named NPCs within Degrees of Lewdity - Love Interests, People of Interest, Special NPCs and Persistent NPCs.

This article will focus on Love Interests, otherwise referred to as "Primary Relationships" in the Social tab.

Summary

There are nine potential love interests for the player to obtain, with three only obtainable via a unique Stockholm Syndrome character trait. The player is able to choose their love interest within the Attitudes menu.

NPCs will become available as certain criteria is met. Check the "Availability" section for more information on how to obtain them.

The option for love interests will default as "None." If the player does not have a set love interest yet, but starts to meet the requirements for one, that person will be automatically set as the player's love interest. Alternatively, should the player not wish to have a love interest, they can set back the option to "None".

The game will now remove a love interest from the list of selectable love interests if they are dismissed, and tell the player when they are dismissed.

Love Interest List

A list of potential love interests is listed below:

• Robin
• Whitney
• Eden
• Kylar
• Avery
• Black Wolf
• Great Hawk
• Alex
• Sydney

Availability

The player must be in a relationship before they are able to think of a potential candidate as their love interest.

NPCs will become available as certain criteria is met. This will then make them options within the Love Interests menu, allowing the player to think of them as their primary (or secondary) love interest. A list is provided below for what scenes unlock the NPC as a potential love interest:

• Robin - A love note, written by them. It will be left in the player's bedroom after the player confronts Bailey about Robin's debt.
• Whitney - Have them declare the player as their boyfriend/girlfriend.
• Eden - Obtain the Stockholm Syndrome: Eden trait.
• Kylar - Make them pull out a knife in English class, or invite them to the orphanage and accept their feelings.
• Avery - Meet them every Saturday at around 8PM, and go on three or more dates with them.
• Black Wolf - Obtain a Deviancy level of 3 or higher, and the Stockholm Syndrome: Wolves trait.
• Great Hawk - Obtain the Stockholm Syndrome: Great Hawk trait.
• Alex - A few days after inviting the player to live with them, Alex may approach the player and claim them as their lover.
• Sydney - Speak to them in the library after noticing them acting tense.

Multiple Love Interests

A high Awareness stat allows the player to choose a secondary love interest alongside their primary love interest. If the player does not have the right amount of Awareness required, this option will be removed. The player may even get a prompt, such as:

"You feel like having multiple lovers is wrong..."

This prompt typically means that the player's Awareness stat is not high enough to choose multiple love interests, and/or the stat has reduced due to other factors.

Note that choosing more than one love interest may prove to be problematic in some cases, especially around other love interests - although this is given regardless of how many love interests the player has.

Primary love interests will always take prominence over secondary love interests.

Dates

The player is able to go on dates with Love Interests. A "Dates" section within Statistics tracks how many times the player proceeds with this.

• Robin - This person likes to venture out to the player to watch films at the local cinema, or set up a picnic in the Forest.
• Whitney - This person likes to see the player as their pet, dragging them along anywhere they go.
• Eden - This person enjoys having the player by their side as a companion. Their cabin can be lonely.
• Kylar - This person loves spending time with the player, to the point of obsession.
• Avery - This person likes luxurious dates, such as ordering at a fancy restaurant or dancing in a ballroom.
• Black Wolf - This person enjoys the player's company as they hunt the wilderness.
• Alex - This person has a busy schedule and little time for recreation. As of yet, the player cannot take Alex on any dates.
• Sydney - This person enjoys casual walks around town. They're open to the player inviting them to the shopping centre or the beach.

Personality/Behaviour

Unlike other Named NPCs, Love Interests have the unique ability to drastically change their personality and/or behaviour, depending on the player's relationship with them. They change themselves to suit the player's needs, instead of the other way around. These will be referred to as "character progression phases" - CPP for short.

Additionally, each love interest is given their own unique stat and purpose, giving the player a general idea of what the character entails:

• Robin: Confidence
• Whitney: Dominance
• Kylar: Jealousy
• Eden: Trust
• Avery: Rage
• Alex: Dominance
• Sydney: Purity

Alex and Whitney share a common stat, although Alex's is portrayed as kinder - only coming into play at certain times.

Certain love interests may have several character phases to go through. This will open up unique options only available when pursuing them as a love interest.

It also includes various bad phases they may have to go through at some point, should the player choose the wrong decisions. These will always be tied to the love interest's specific stat, and may open up the option to dismiss that character - preventing them from being interacted with by the player for the rest of the playthrough.

How love interests personality/behavioural changes is detailed below. Stat-specific phases will be listed before the phase description, for instance (Confidence).

Robin

Robin's behaviour will become much more courageous, doing things they would have never imagined themselves doing before.

• First phase: Starts at the "Normal" phase. This is their default personality. Otherwise shy, and not very brave.
• Second phase: Enters the "Lover" phase, once claimed as a love interest. Allows the player to initiate consensual encounters with them.
• (Confidence) Third phase: Advances to the "Confident" phase, upon increasing their Confidence stat. They will protect the player during specific scenarios.
• (Trauma) Fourth phase: Robin is traumatised by certain events, withdrawing into their own shell. The player will have to help them out of it.

Whitney

Whitney's behaviour will become slightly more "gentle", easing up any rough handling of the player.

• First phase: Starts at the "Bully" phase. This is their default personality. Reflects that of a typical school bully.
• Second phase: Enters the "Gentle" phase, once claimed as a love interest. Becomes much more possessive of the player.
• (Dominance) Third phase: Advances to the "Pet Owner" phase, upon increasing their Dominance stat.
• (Dominance) Fourth phase: May advance to the "Vengeful" phase. Whitney will exact revenge onto the player at the minimum Dominance.

Eden

Eden's behaviour will become much more trusting of the player, thinking of them as a companion. This allows the player to freely roam around their Cabin, and potentially the option to join them on their hunting trips.

• First phase: Starts at the "Lecherous" phase. This is their default personality. The player is trapped within Eden's Cabin, and must find a means of escaping, or remaining obedient. Eden may initiate more than one sexual encounter during the day with the player against their will, stating that they are "going to enjoy this."
• Second phase: Enters the "Trusting" phase. The player is allowed free access around their cabin.

Kylar

Kylar's behaviour will become much more bold, but becomes infatuated and obsessed with the player.

• First phase: Starts at the "Shy" phase. This is their default personality. Trapped within their own shell, Kylar puts up little to no resistance against others.
• Second phase: Advances to the "Bold" phase. Kylar starts to become more confident, doing things like trying to sit next to the PC and Robin during Lunch.
• Third phase: Enters the "Clingy" phase, once claimed as a love interest. This is where their obsession kicks in, as Kylar will start to stalk the player around town, and can even be caught in the player's own bedroom.
• (Suspicion) Fourth phase: May advance to the "Hysteric" phase. Kylar will kidnap the player at max Suspicion. It is here where they can be dismissed.

Avery

Avery's behaviour will become much more luxurious, allowing the player to go on high-class dates with them.

• First phase: Starts at the "Intrigued" phase. This is their default personality. Avery will start to take an interest in the player.
• Second phase: Advances to the "Dating" phase, once claimed as a love interest. Avery will go on fancy dates with the player every Saturday.
• (Rage) Third phase: Enters the "Enraged" phase, once enough Rage has been obtained. To put things simply, they do not take kindly to the player refusing their requests.

Black Wolf

The Black Wolf's behaviour will become more trusting of the player, accepting the player as part of the pack. This allows the player free access around the Wolf Cave, and potentially the option to join them on their hunting adventures.

• First phase: Starts at the "Fierce" phase. This is their default personality. The player is trapped within the cave, and must find a means of escaping, or remaining obedient. The Black Wolf may try to initiate sexual encounters with the player against their will.
• Second phase: Enters the "Calm" phase. The player is allowed free access around the Wolf Cave.
• Third phase: May advance to the "Agitated" phase. At this point, the player can potentially challenge the Black Wolf for authority over the pack. If the player wins, the Black Wolf will serve as their second-in-command, instead of the leader of the pack.

Great Hawk

Great Hawk will dote on the player, bringing them gifts such as food and stolen items when coming back to the castle. Once claimed as a love interest, they will also let the player leave the castle at any time and will carry them back up to the tower if needed.

Alex

Alex maintains a jovial relationship with the player from the get-go. As the player continues to work as their farmhand, Alex's feelings for the player will go beyond that of a boss and their worker, culminating in offering the player a place in their cottage.

• First phase: Starts at the "Co-worker" phase. They're friendly with the player and won't mind spending their breaks relaxing with them. Though their romantic feelings for the player have yet to manifest, they may still take interest in the player sexually during this phase if their Lust is high enough, leading to potential encounters if the player reciprocates.
• Second phase: Enters the "Partner" phase after deciding to share their ownership of the farm with the player. In this phase, they're more direct in their flirting, doing things such as sneaking into their bedroom at night for sex. They'll generally respect whenever the player tells them "no," though they can get a bit pushy, especially at high Dominance.

Sydney

Upon first meeting them, Sydney's relationship with the player can be described as "just friends," if even that. They'll greet the player with a cold politeness, but as they spend more time together, they'll gradually open up as they steadily grow more comfortable cutting loose around the player.

• First phase: Starts at the "Acquaintances" phase. They're polite but aloof, and generally seems to regard the player as little more than just another student. The player may still interact with them at the shop or temple, but for deeper interactions with Sydney, they must progress to the second phase.
• Second phase: Advances the "Friends" phase. They'll be more willing to spend time with the player, going so far as to set aside their work when the player visits them in the library. They'll allow the player to take them on walks around town, or walk with them to the temple after school.
• Third phase: Finally enters the "Lovers" phase. The player may notice Sydney acting unusual. Confronting them about their odd behaviour leads them to confess their feelings, at which point the player can accept. Note that this is the only phase in which the player may get into sexual encounters with Sydney; as friends, they'll always rebuke the player's advances, even with high Lust and/or Corruption.

NPC Insecurities

Love Interests, unlike other NPCs, have set insecurities that are revealed when the player succeeds a [Mock] option during combat, teasing them about a specific trait of theirs.

• Sydney - Skill

This may give a little insight into how NPCs personally think of themselves, but should best be left up to player interpretation. For instance, Eden may mention during a bath sequence that they feel somewhat ashamed of their toned body.

Just like finding insecurities for others, they will "breathe faster as the player speaks" indicating a successful action. This makes the NPC more aroused, allowing the player to make them orgasm more quickly.

Reactions

Should the player pick the "Plead", "Demand", or "Scream" combat actions during a non-consensual encounter, there is a decent chance (15%) that they will mention their current love interest by name. These lines can influence the Fame stat, depending on the current love interest.

Namedropping love interests such as Kylar or Whitney for instance while in school may have some effect on overall School status. Alternatively, mentioning non-human love interests such as the Black Wolf and the Wolf Pack to others will increase Deviancy fame by a small amount.

Unnamed NPCs

NPCs across the town and anywhere else will have unique lines to say if the player picks one of the three combat options. These lines will vary depending on their anger and trust towards the player.

If the NPC is slightly angry:

• "Just close your eyes and think about them, just a little longer."
• "Don't worry, you'll see them again."
• "Already taken? Adorable. I'll make you forget all about them."

If the NPC is very angry:

• "Enough. You're mine."
• "Quit being a brat and maybe I'll let you see them again."
• "I don't care who you're seeing. Shut it."

If the NPC is extremely angry:

• "You're mine, slut. They'll probably leave you when they find out about this!"
• "Keep it up and you won't see them again, bitch."
• "You're lucky they won't find you in a ditch somewhere."

Named NPCs

Should the player pick the "Plead or "Demand" combat actions during a non-consensual encounter with another potential love interest that is not their own, there is a decent chance (15%) that they will mention their current love interest. These lines can influence the Fame stat, depending on the current love interest.

Certain NPCs will act differently depending on what the player says. For instance, Kylar will become erraneously jealous of the player. (++Jealousy)

Additionally, should the player find themselves in a non-consensual encounter with their primary love interest, the player may say some unique dialogue depending on what combat action they pick. These lines will be listed at the top of the "Pleading" and "Demanding" sub-sections, marked with a (NC)

For instance:

• "Please be gentle, Whitney..." (Pleading)
• "You can't just fuck me whenever you want, Whitney!" (Demanding)

Please also note that some lines may be unobtainable, and are merely failsafes in case of potential issues. Unobtainable lines will be marked with a (U).

An example would be Robin, as they can never be involved in a non-consensual encounter through normal means - all sexual endeavors with them are consensual.

Pleading

Trivia

• Originally, there were only three "love interests" (although they were not referred to as love interests until Version 0.2.13, listed only as a major part in the Social tab) in which the player can romance. These were Robin, Whitney and Eden respectively. This has since been expanded to six.
  • However, the latter three (Kylar, Avery and the Black Wolf) have behaved as a love interest since their introduction to the game, possessing unique stats similar to those of the original three.
• Some lines with primary love interests in a non-consensual encounter were altered slightly. The original lines are listed below:
  • Robin
    • Before: "I thought you were the one person I could trust, Robin. Let go of me."
    • After: "Robin, stop! I don't want this!"
  • Avery
    • Before: "You don't pay me enough for this shit!"
    • After: "You don't pay me enough to treat me like this!"
• Originally, Avery made a one-time event when getting one of the lichen needed for the Science Fair at the Park. The initial event would occur as normal, but Avery disappeared from the game after the event took place. Since Version 0.1.28, Avery can serve as a potential love interest.
• On the Degrees of Lewdity Discord, there is the option to choose designated love interest roles.
  • Robin is the most popular by a landslide.
  • The Black Wolf was added to the role options as a joke character. Nonetheless, when the love interest system was implemented they became a love interest.
• Prior to Version 0.2.13, these NPCs (excluding the Black Wolf) were referred to as "major NPCs." These NPCs offered more interactivity than other NPCs, including options such as specific stats, unique scenes and more. Upon the update's release, they were fitted into the love interest system, and are now referred to as love interests typically.
• Prior to Version 0.3, Alex was a likely candidate for the next love interest. This was indicated by their spike in popularity upon release, as well as the developer stating that Alex's Farm will house a bed to sleep in for Version 0.3. This was later confirmed upon the update's release.
• Eden, the Black Wolf and the Great Hawk are tied for the most health in the game at six hundred points each. For reference Bailey is four hundred points.
