Named Non-Playable Characters

From Degrees of Lewdity Wiki
(Redirected from Social)

Degrees of Lewdity offers a range of various Named Non-Playable Characters (NNPCs for short) the player can encounter during their playthrough. Their gender and genitalia can be independently changed at any safehouse.

In addition, all Named NPCs' names will be intentionally unisex (gender-neutral) names to account for gender changes at any time. There is no "canon" sex for any Named NPC, as this is left up to the player and their own interpretations. NPC descriptions will vary, however, based on the chosen sex and/or genitalia.

NPCs will be categorised into several groups for convenience chronologically, these are:

  • Influential
  • Teachers
  • Students
  • Orphans
  • Outcasts
  • Non-Human

Named NPCs may have unique and visible progress bars to indicate the relationship status between the NPC and the player. For more information, seek out each character.

Love Interests

Otherwise referred to as "Primary Relationships" in the Social tab, these NPCs have many opportunities for interactions with the player, to the point of romance. They may play a key role in specific events. Each NPC listed here has the option of becoming an optional love interest for the player to pick. The player can have multiple love interests.

The option to choose someone as a love interest was added in Version 0.2.13.

For more information, visit this page: Love Interests

Robin the orphan

Robin is one of many orphans living under Bailey's tyranny, and one who has always looked up to the player. They are initially encountered within the Main Hall of the Orphanage starting from the second day onwards. They like to play video games, showing excitement when telling them of their newly-bought console - this allows the player to play games with Robin (or simply watch them play).

As a love interest, their role as an NPC serves as a more "vanilla" relationship, allowing the player many opportunities to go on dates with them and otherwise treat Robin as a normal boyfriend/girlfriend. Should the player be under heavy Stress or Trauma, spending time with Robin will mitigate these effects very quickly.

On weekends, or when school is not in session, they will be found at their lemonade stand, selling fresh lemonade to thirsty customers on the Beach. During the winter season, Robin can instead be found selling hot chocolate at the park.

Robin has a personal quest available, see here: Robin's Quest

Hotspots:

  • Robin's Room
  • Robin's Lemonade Stand on the beach
  • School Canteen
  • Robin's Hot Chocolate Stand on the park

Group(s): Orphans, Students

Version History:

Whitney the bully

Whitney is a delinquent and popular student who will pick on the player. They are initially encountered within the school hallways starting from the first or second day of school onwards. Whitney will proceed to sexually bully the player in any means possible, with many events revolving around their oral fixation.

Generally, Whitney can be found within the school - and will almost always appear with their cronies by their side. Additionally, they share the same teacher as the player, River. As such, Whitney will appear in the player's Maths classes - having a tendency to skip the class entirely unless the player has high enough Love with them.

On gloomy (such as rainy) days, Whitney can be found overlooking the park fountain, brooding under their umbrella. This is one of few opportunities the player can see them alone.

Their role as an NPC primarily serves as a bully to the player, humiliating them wherever possible and showing no remorse.

As a love interest, Whitney will surprisingly become more soft, allowing unique opportunities to have Whitney open up to the player during certain events. If Whitney is the player's primary love interest, calling out for them using [Plead] or [Demand] options will increase status.

Whitney is one of three NPCs that can be dismissed, see here: Dismissing Whitney

  • School Main Gate

Version History:

Eden the hunter/huntress

Eden is a self-sufficient hunter/huntress living alone in the woods, living within their cabin. They are initially encountered as a random dangerous encounter when roaming the Forest, and will take the player back to the cabin if they do not resist or fail to fight back. The player can end up sold to Eden if they fail to pay Bailey the second time.

While kidnapped, Eden will treat the player like a slave and have them follow a menial schedule, such as having sex several times during the day, washing each other's body at the same time, and even having the player make breakfast for them. The player is stuck to a leash during this time, allowing very little opportunities to escape the cabin.

As a love interest, they will think of the player as a companion. No longer will the player be obligated to do tasks, and Eden will allow the player free roam around the cabin as they please. However, they will heavily disapprove of the player wanting to leave the cabin. Eventually, given enough trust, Eden will agree - reluctantly - but comes to a compromise: The player must return in a week's time, or else Eden will come tracking the player down.

This is the first love interest out of three to be tied to a "Stockholm Syndrome" social trait.

Hotspots:

  • Forest
  • Eden's Cabin

Group(s): Influential, Outcasts

Version History:

Kylar the loner

Kylar the loner is a student that becomes obsessed with the player over time. They are initially encountered within the school hallways starting from the second week onwards, being bullied. Kylar is established to be a severe outcast, being heavily bullied by other students of the school, to the point where they are referred to as a "freak" by many students. On weekends, or when school is not in session, they can be found within the Arcade, or Park.

They share the same teacher as the player, Doren. As such, Kylar will appear in the player's English classes.

As a love interest, they can be a useful lover, or unhinged stalker - depending on the player's actions. They will provide many utilities for the player, but will become increasingly jealous towards the player spending time with other people. If Kylar is the player's primary love interest, calling out for them using [Plead] or [Demand] options will decrease status.

Kylar is one of three NPCs that can be dismissed, see here: Dismissing Kylar. They are also the fourth and final love interest to be tied to a "Stockholm Syndrome" social trait.

Hotspots:

  • School Hallways
  • School rear playground
  • English Class
  • Arcade
  • Park
  • Prison (if dismissed)

Version History:

Avery the businessperson

Avery is a businessman/woman who takes an interest in the player. They are initially encountered in the Park when gathering lichen for the Science Fair, or alternatively found rescuing the player from harassment on the streets.

As a love interest, Avery serves the role as a sugar-parent for the player - allowing them to go on luxurious dates such as fancy restaurants or hotels. Avery does not like to be played around with, and as such will turn angry towards the player should they fail to do what is instructed of them, such as dressing inappropriately or turning up late for dates.

Avery is one of three NPCs that can be dismissed, see here: Dismissing Avery

Version History:

Black Wolf the alpha

The Black Wolf is seen as the alpha de-facto leader of the Wolf Pack, located at the Wolf Cave within the Forest. They are initially encountered as a random dangerous encounter when roaming the Forest and will take the player back to their den should they fail to fight back the beast or put up no resistance.

The entire pack mates with the player once the beast brings the player to the den and afterward the player will be taken to the back of the cave to be kept there by the rest of the pack. This allows very few opportunities to escape, as the wolves guarding the player will lash out at them should they try to leave through the cave's entrance.

Once the pack trusts the player enough, the Black Wolf will wish to mate with the player, presenting its genitals. Regardless of how the player deals with the situation, the beast will allow the player free roam around the cave. Unlike Eden, they will not hunt down the player should the player leave the cave behind.

At some point, the Black Wolf can be challenged for the leadership role, in which should the player succeed, they will take over - the Black Wolf will instead serve as a second-in-command.

This is the second love interest out of four to be tied to a "Stockholm Syndrome" social trait. It is also the first non-human NPC to have unique dialogue if they are a monster-person.

Hotspots:

  • Wolf Cave
  • Forest

Group(s): Non-Human, Outcasts

Version History:

Great Hawk the terror

The Great Hawk patrols the vicinity of the moor. It has made its nest in the ruined castle known as the Hawk's Tower at the far end of the area. Despite their terrifying first impressions, they are in fact misunderstood - lonely, and very caring - to the extent where they think of the player as their own spouse.

They will return with many gifts for the player - their usefulness determined by the player themselves - and may even teach the player how to fly at some point, should they have strong enough wings to do so.

This is the third love interest to be tied to a "Stockholm Syndrome" social trait. It is also the second non-human NPC to have unique dialogue and events if they are a monster-person.

Sydney The Faithful/The Fallen

Sydney the faithful is an overworked, studious schoolmate of the player and an initiate at the Temple. When first met, they're well-behaved and unfailingly polite, though they have their limits, especially when faced with what they deem "sinful lust." They also have a tendency to write on others, particularly the player.

Being the assistant of the school's librarian, it comes as no surprise that Sydney is something of a bookworm. They manage the school store from their counter in the library, where they expect their fellow students to uphold the same respect they have towards books. Students who mistreat or damage their textbooks are punished at the hands of Sydney and their arsenal of red markers.

Sydney is highly impressionable, starting out naïve and innocent in their first interactions. It's entirely dependent on the player's actions whether Sydney will uphold their Purity or slip into the depths of Corruption, with their personality shifting accordingly.

Hotspots:

  • School Library (Sydney's Counter)
  • Temple

Version History:

People of Interest

These NPCs will not have progression bars as Love Interests, only their opinion of the player stated in the Social tab.

As such, attempts from the player towards protecting Darryl from would-be harassers will be greatly appreciated by them, allowing them to see the player in a different light from before.

Their sinister, traumatic past haunts them to this day.

If the player is anally pregnant, Harper will assist the player with advice on how to give birth to the parasitic offspring.

Groups

Human

Influential

Those who hold influence over the player and/or own an establishment.

Effects: Monitors the player's interactions with the NPC. Interactions vary on the NPC. Some may be more willing to help the player succeed than others.

Teachers

Those who work at the local school.

Effects: How well behaving of a student the player is. With high Delinquency, they will ignore the player's scream for help within the school. Remaining out of trouble will have Delinquency decrease.

Students

Those who study at the local school.

Effects: How much the other students like the player in general. Having a low Status will make them really hostile. Status can be increased by socialising with other students during class, on the Beach, or at the Lake after school.

Orphans

Those who reside at the Orphanage.

Effects: How the orphanage atmosphere currently is. Having high Hope will prove advantageous for the player, making the orphans act more nice and law-abiding. High Rebelliousness will make the orphans want to fight back against Bailey's tyranny, encouraging them to commit crimes such as theft and making them more vulgar.

Outcasts

Those who tend not to associate with the rest of the town, keeping to themselves when they can - and/or act independently from it. They may also live on the town's outskirts.

Effects: How well the player's standing is with the town's outcasts. Affects NPCs such as Kylar and Eden.

Non-Human

Beasts or otherwise dangerous creatures that appear in certain locations.

Effects: How devious the player's tastes are viewed as. Some beasts will be more possessive of the player than others.

Wolf Pack

Those who have made their home at the Wolf Cave.

Effects: After getting the Stockholm Syndrome: Wolves Trait, the player can control the proportion of the Wolf Pack's Harmony and Ferocity stats. High Harmony lowers the chance of a successful hunt, but also makes them more peaceful. High Ferocity will increase chances of successful hunts, but makes them more vicious towards the player and themselves. It is ideal to balance both.

Trivia

  • Character silhouettes are left intentionally ambiguous to avoid intrusion on the way people imagine those characters.
    • The silhouettes are designed to be androgynous, but gender specific silhouettes are not off the table just yet.
  • Marriage is in the works. It's noted that the premise behind it is that the player will be unable to marry any NPC, but ones that have a unique situation to them and takes a lot of work to get into a relationship with, such as Robin.
    • A harem is not off the table, as the player will be able to get various love interests to get along with each other. Of course, it will not be easy to manage.
  • It is established that certain NPCs do not like the idea of sharing the player. Robin, Whitney and Kylar in particular will not be happy, especially Robin and Kylar.
